The LEGO games usually all save in Appdata\Roaming folder. They don't save in terms of a Steam Emu location, as the games are actually all DRM free, so they don't interact woth any Steam components. Examples being Lego Harry Potter saves in a Warner Brothers folder in Roaming. Lego pirates of the Caribbean saves in a folder called Disney
So Lego Marvel Super Heroes 1 and Avengers had alot of blank space (water, unused area) that tricked people into thinking it's big, the open world here is actually big. If you're wondering why they are 18 smaller locations in one, it's because Kang overbarred the Nexus to defy space and time of reality.

These new additions have been staples ever since and ultimately improved the series. This entry also grew into something more than the Batman ethos, pulling from the DC universe as a whole.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes has one explorable open world, a miniature version of Manhattan. You can explore it on foot, drive vehicles, fly around with some amusing (but initially difficult) controls, or even play a similar game to your favorite old open world Spider-Man.
