I'm playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 - the version from GoG that has both the AB xpac as well as Shadow of Death. All are installed. I also installed the universal update. I never really get a completed set of artifacts to create a combo artifact - I played all through Restoration of Erathia without get a chance to try it.
To show one of my artifacts designed, weather a good choice or not I made the "Carefull bull Amulet of Peircing" (+2 Health/+3 Defense/+3 Attack per creature) for the Master Gremlins which is a stack of x231 atm! The masters will help keep the Golems alive, but will also attack from range when not repairing.

Not a single crash, native res, the only thing I missed was grabbing resources/artifacts without wasting movement points but that is how it is meant to be played. I completed all the add-ons two or three times many years ago before the HD mod even existed.
The Shackles are definitely a contender, and that is a good point Gnik made about its major class. On that same note, the Boots of Speed give an enormous bonus (+6 spaces on grass) and are only considered minor. The Cape of Velocity is another immensely powerful major class. EWa6iB.
